New Home

G’day mates. Today I woke up and thought now that I’m over my initial shock of my life change I’d share my new home. My new home isn’t ideal, but the burns are not also. There are less and smaller eucalyptus trees, the sky ends, there is no sun (do not get me wrong there is light, but I have not yet found where the sun is), and the ground is a different color. I have been confused about a few things. How do the humans control the sun and hide it and how can the humans just lift the lil’ eucalyptus trees. The sun control thing is unexplainable, but the tree moving ability got me thinking about a few ideas.

  1. Humans have super strength or 2. Humans have a special relationship with trees.

This second idea seems less likely to me than the first because I have seen a human CUT a tree down with my own eyes. And not just one, but multiple. I think he did it on purpose too. I’ll let yous in on a lil’ secret… I cried that night. I know, I know I’m a dude and I’m suppose to show my toughness, but let’s be real the sight of a falling tree is heartbreaking. If yous wouldn’t cry, do not mean to be harsh, but I hope we never meet 🙂 Due to this logic I have concluded that humans must have super strength. Must be nice, but there is no way it is as good as naps.

Back to the new home. My food is always delivered by a human. For now it has been plenty, allowing me to sleep with a full belly. Sleeping on an empty belly is like sleeping on the ground. TERRIBLE. So that’s good. I have been receiving treatments daily since I arrived for my burns. Most times 3+ a day. Also always by humans. A word for the humans when I am sleeping and yous come in for treatment yous could leave me asleep. Speaking of sleep again every time my eyes close I go back to running from the flames. I see Milto’s face, I see others disappear in the flames, I relive all the panic and fear. Effectively turning each nap into a nightmare. Even with the full belly the nightmares have kept me awake a lil’ more than usual. I hope yous realized I like naps and understand how these nightmares are no good. Amidst the nightmares I still hold out hope others survived, although I fear the worse.

I do not want to end on my sorrows. Let’s end with my biggest question. Where is everyone? I have only seen humans so far, but where are all the toads, lizards, spiders, birds and everyone else? I hope it is not just me and the humans. Do not get me wrong, I am grateful. They did save my life, but it is just too much. I’ll open that can of eucalyptus leaves next time.

Until then, G’day mates!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
