Arvo mates! Last time I was writing to yous we ended on the can of eucalyptus leaves known as humans. As I have said before, I am grateful for them saving my life, protecting me, nursing me back to health. They have taken me in when my home was burned alive. I will never be able to repay humans for all their help. With that being said you humans are a lil’ too touchy. At this point I can put up with it, but at first I was not the best with it. I left a few bite and claw marks. In the bush the humans always looked from afar and whenever they got close I climbed higher up the tree. Can’t quite do that in my new home.
It’s not just the touchiness of humans that can be annoying, it can also be their conversations. Sometimes they just bore me when they discuss what’s on the telly or barbie. Other times though they can excite me in the conversation when they discuss others they have saved from the flames. The other day when the humans came in to feed me and switch my bandages they were discussing the air quality. A lot of it sounded similar to what George had educated me on through the blogs. Then there was something else. All I caught was that it was a sickness in the air. Then the humans shared a quick laugh about how they were safe because who wants to visit a continent on fire. I did not get the joke. If the humans felt safe from the sickness in the air then I think I’m safe from it too.
Sniff sniff sniff… the humans always leave a stench behind when they leave and it is not like it is the same stench everytime. It changes, quite frequently. Some days it’s a pungent stench that reminds me a lot of my cousin Colo’s borries. Which believe me smell awful. Other days it smells like a field of wildflowers. I do not understand how a human can smell like a flower, but then again humans are constantly surprising me. The oddest days are when humans leave behind this musk scent. It reminds me a lot of a mating scent. I am astonished by the humans remarkable ability to change scents so frequently and often. I have once had the same human tend to me for the same day and change scents from morning to night. I do not know how yous do it, but the scent changes are what mess with me the most. I’m more of a same face same scent kind of bear. To me it just keeps things simple and I like things simple. Multiple scents not simple.
Humans also are always wearing some protection over their skin, but not all their skin sometimes. Some skin I guess is more special than others. I do not understand why the skin on a human’s stomach deserves protection over the skin on their hands. It is above my understanding I presume. Human clothing is something I like the most, even if it does carry their smells. I like the many colors and grip. Their protection has proved to be much easier to climb on then their unprotected skin.
Humans are good and nice. They have done a lot for me and I am sure do a lot for the world. I’m sure they must annoy themselves. I mean I heard of this Scomo and he seems to be the most annoying human in the world. Even with Scomo out there I still like humans. Although humans would not be my first pick species wise to be stuck with.
Until next time, G’day mates!
